Learning

I’ve had the good fortune and honor over two decades to learn the arts of Taijiquan (Tai Chi) and Qigong from exceptional teachers around the region, and esteemed international masters.

In addition to daily practice and weekly instruction, I take focused training workshops each season.

For enhanced understanding, I’ve also undergone training and earned certifications in related arts ranging from Acupuncture Detoxification to Reiki, Shiatsu and traditional Taoist Astrology.

teaching

For over a decade it’s been a privilege and pleasure to share some of what I’ve learned, welcoming newcomers to the simple but profound power of mindful motion, and exploring ways to deepen the practice with longtime students.

In my experience with all kinds of groups – whether we’re in clinical settings, professional credit courses, workplaces wellness sessions, town recreation and senior centers, holistic health studios or local schools – we always discover some special benefit for each individual.

I’m certified as a Level III Instructor with the American Tai Chi & Qigong Association.  I also earned certification in the CDC’s ‘Moving for Balance’ community implementation program.

advocating

In eastern Connecticut we’re fortunate to host one of the longest-standing and largest local celebrations of the global annual World Tai Chi & Qigong Day event.  In recent years I’ve been thrilled to serve as lead organizer for the Connecticut celebration, with a collaboration of outstanding, dedicated colleagues.

During a 29-year corporate career I fielded health care policy and regulation in several states and at the federal level.  I also earned a graduate public policy degree, focusing on the integration of acupuncture in the health care system.

I’ve been proud to serve since 2008 as an advisor for the Connecticut Society of Acupuncturists (CTSA), and helped lawmakers modernize our state’s scope of practice act for Licensed Acupuncturists and Acupuncture Detoxification Specialists.  I now also serve on the CTSA board of directors, and on the national advocacy and Medicaid committees of the American Society of Acupuncturists (ASA).

In retirement I’ve trained as a Master Woodland Manager, and also engage in enhancing the wonderful forest habitat in Ashford where my wife and I live.
